Sakyamuni -
From Crown Prince to Buddha

Accomplishment in All Aspects

¡@ ¡@ Siddhartha's body displayed thirty-two auspicious signs.  His father named him Siddhartha, meaning full accomplishment in all aspects.

¡@ ¡@ When Siddhartha was eight days old, Madame Maya passed away.  The crown prince was then brought up by Madame Maya's sister Mahaprajapati.  She loved and cared for Siddhartha as if He was her own son.

¡@ ¡@ Siddhartha was very bright by nature.  From the age of seven, He began to learn astronomy, geography, literature, philosophy, mathematics and martial arts from Brahman scholars.  When he was ten years old, he already mastered and were champions in horsemanship, archery and fencing.

¡@ ¡@ His physical strength was immense.  One day, there was an elephant stuck at the castle gate blocking the traffic and no one was able to do anything about it.  Siddhartha, lifted the elephant with one hand and threw it out of the gate.  This illustrated the extraordinary courage and strength of Siddhartha.
