Sakyamuni Buddha
A Brief Introduction

Relinquished luxury

The royal prince felt that the theocracy of Brahmana3 and their doctrine which described the world being created by Brahman could not satisfactorily explain the actual scene of the universe.

Siddhartha decided to give up the royal livelihood and went out to seek the truth of the universe.

On a full-moon night when He was 29 (some say nineteen), the royal prince, accompanied by a horse attendant, rode on a fine white horse whose legs were then lifted by Buddhas of multiple heavens, flew over the royal residence.

Siddhartha thus began His monastic life and practice.
